Brian Marsom - the ARTIST

Brian studied and worked in graphic and industrial design for over 30 years. He lives in Waitakere City, Auckland, New Zealand and has been painting full time for the past 10 years.

Brian prefers to think of himself as a contemporary artist without boundaries. Much of his work is more abstract expressionism. Some paintings are semi-abstract and have a hint of conventional landscape, others from a birds eye view, may be seen as aerial landscapes. He often uses heavy epoxy resin to create texture, which gives the work body and catches the light. The canvas size and shape vary with concepts, from small intimate pieces to larger work suitable for public spaces. He is known for his large textured paintings, leased to many businesses in Auckland.

Brian has a constant desire or need to explore; letting the subconscious come into play, with a Zen like approach somewhere between action and reaction. His art process is a quest, or an unsatisfied addiction, constantly seeking solutions, moving along a delicate path of thoughts, feelings, time and energy, that becomes his unique creative experience.

Brian can supply design concepts for architects, interior designers and clients, seeking artworks and objects for interior and exterior projects. (See contacts page.)
